Mike's work was celebrating an anniversary (I don't know which one), but their headquarters are in DC, which meant we got to go on a trip! It was great, but what made it perfect was that my sister lives there! We had a local to show us around and it was great to be able to see her. I went to DC right after I graduated from high school, but it was great to go back. Here is a glimpse into our trip...
This is Sunni's house. How cute huh! Mike and I stayed in a hotel a little ways away but we spent quite a bit of time here.
The DC Temple is gorgeous- this is taken from the main freeway.
The first night we got to DC we went and got pizza. The next day Mike had some work stuff but then we were able to hang out with Sunni and she took us to Georgetown which is such a cute place. Sunni got us dinner at some Middle Eastern place, then she got us cupcakes and we walked around town, and by the river.
This was the weekend that Steve Jobs died so all of the apple stores had memorial things outside.
We also walked in and on top of the Kennedy Center.
The next day when we had free time we went to this Cathedral, and to the Washington DC Temple.
This was on a truck at the temple. Pretty awesome considering my mom's maiden name is Kemp, and our last name is Mumford!
That night we went and got Gelato Ice Cream- so good! Mike's coworker Jason came with us and he wanted to see the temple, so we went back and took some nice night pictures.
The next day was all of the monuments!
Of course we had to go to the Aerospace Museum for Mike, and it was great. We walked around and got dog tag necklaces.
If you go to DC I strongly suggest renting bicycles! We got the bikes from "capital bike share", and rode all around the monuments. It was the perfect way to see them!

Of course the Washington Monuments. We weren't able to go up since it was closed for construction but it was still fun to see.

The next day was unfortunately our last. We went and toured the capitol building, took the tunnel to the library of congress, went and say the Archives with the Declaration of Independence, drove past where Lincoln was short, saw the white house, then it was time to go.
There haven't been very many librarians for the library of congress- but one of them had the name Mumford!
It was hard to leave, but at least when we arrived back in Denver the airport was very friendly!
It was a fantastic trip, and hopefully we will be able to go back sometime. Thanks Sunni for making it extra special!!
